HANDCRAFTED

about

From an early age, the desire to create and craft has shaped Melinda's life. Melinda considers herself a 'Maker', working with her hands and creating art is her passion. Melinda's enthusiasm for fiber arts began at an East End Arts Council class which was taught by Justine Moore. This led her to study with Anna Gunnarsdottir from Iceland as well as Leslie Hansard from New Zealand.

Her skills include soaps, ceramics, wet and nuno-felting, and oil painting. More recently, she has learned to create seamless garments with Jean Gauger.

Melinda's work has been featured in local art shows. Each piece that she creates expresses individuality in a world that seems to become more and more generic.
